Colonial street grid
The eighteenth-century grid of the old town, with its public squares, remains intact. It gives the poster a clear, regular core that stands out against the water.

Charlottetown Map Poster & Print
Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island, sits on a peninsula where the North, West and Hillsborough rivers meet to form its harbour. The town was laid out by British surveyors in the 1760s on a regular grid of streets with public squares, and that plan still shapes the centre today. From above, the orderly blocks run down to the water on three sides.
The city is known as the Birthplace of Confederation. In 1864, delegates met at the Charlottetown Conference in Province House to discuss the union of the British North American colonies, the process that led to the creation of Canada three years later. Province House stands in the old grid, and the waterfront, with its wharves and marina, is close by.
A Charlottetown map poster shows the planned grid, the squares within it, the broad harbour and Victoria Park on the headland facing the water. Few Canadian cities have such a clear historic layout. It suits islanders, alumni of the university, and visitors who arrived by ferry or bridge and remember the harbour well.

Three-river harbour
The North, West and Hillsborough rivers meet in front of the city. Their broad estuaries surround the peninsula and give the composition wide expanses of open water.
Victoria Park
A large park and boardwalk occupy the waterfront headland southwest of downtown. Its paths and open lawns form a soft green edge against the harbour.
