Lake Victoria shore
The town meets the lake along an irregular coastline of small bays and points. In black and white, the water becomes a wide calm field beside the dense street pattern.

Chato Map Poster & Print
Chato sits on the southwestern shore of Lake Victoria, in Geita Region, on a stretch of coast broken up by inlets, headlands and islands. On a map, the town is bounded by water. Streets run down toward the shore and stop at the lake, and the lake takes up much of the frame, flat and blank, against the finer grain of the town.
Chato is best known as the hometown of John Magufuli, Tanzania's fifth president. In recent years it has gained new public buildings and an airport, and those newer, straighter developments sit alongside an older, more informal core. Seen from above, the two patterns meet: a tidier layout laid over footpaths and plots that grew up gradually.
Offshore to the northwest is Rubondo Island National Park, a protected forested island reached across the water. A Chato map poster can be framed tightly on the town's streets or widened to show the coves and islands of this corner of the lake, where the shoreline becomes the main feature.

Newer town layout
Recent public buildings and roads bring straighter lines to parts of Chato. They contrast clearly with the older, more organic plots around the original centre.
Islands offshore
A wider view takes in the islands of the southwestern lake, including Rubondo, a national park. They float in the frame as clean, isolated shapes.
