Chatou Map Poster & Print
Chatou lies west of Paris in the Yvelines department, on the inside of one of the Seine's great meanders. From above, the town sits on a gently curving riverbank. Residential streets run back from the water toward the neighbouring communes, and the RER A line crosses the town on its way between La Défense and Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
In the river lies the long, narrow Île des Impressionnistes, linked to the banks by bridges. In the late nineteenth century, painters came here to spend time at riverside restaurants. The Maison Fournaise, where Renoir painted Luncheon of the Boating Party, still stands on the island, and the area remains closely tied to the history of Impressionism.
A Chatou map poster uses the Seine as its main line. The river sweeps across the sheet with the island floating in the middle. Bridges stitch the two banks together, and the rail line cuts a clean diagonal through the town. The rest is a fine mesh of suburban streets. It is an elegant composition with a well-known story behind it.

Seine meander
The river curves along the edge of the town, forming a strong sweeping line that defines the shape of Chatou and sets it apart from its neighbours.
Bridges and RER line
Road and rail bridges cross the river and the island, and the RER A line runs through the town, a clear sign of its direct link to central Paris.
