Cornaredo lies just west of Milan, in the flat Lombard plain where the metropolitan area begins to loosen into fields. On a map it is not one centre but several: the historic core of Cornaredo itself and the separate frazione of San Pietro all'Olmo, each with its own church square and cluster of older streets.
Around those cores, postwar and more recent housing fills in the gaps, while main roads and motorway links tie the town to Milan and the surrounding municipalities. To the south and west, agricultural land still shows up as large open parcels crossed by field roads and irrigation lines typical of Lombardy.
