Cuilo Map Poster & Print
Cuilo lies in north-eastern Angola, in the Lunda region of high plateau, gallery forest and long river valleys draining north toward the Congo basin. The town is modest in size. On the map it appears as a compact cluster of streets and plots set within a wide, lightly settled landscape that stretches in every direction.
The Lunda provinces are best known for their diamond deposits, which have shaped roads and settlement across the region for generations. Around towns like Cuilo, the pattern from above is one of unpaved tracks, scattered homesteads and watercourses cutting shallow lines through the plateau. It looks nothing like the dense grid of a large city.
A Cuilo map poster is a study in restraint. The black-and-white rendering picks out every road and path that leaves the centre, and it leaves generous white space for the surrounding country. The result is an honest portrait of a place that rarely appears on printed maps, drawn with the same care as any capital.

Radiating roads
Roads and tracks leave town in several directions toward neighbouring settlements across the plateau. Together they give the composition a loose, star-like structure.
River valleys
Rivers flowing toward the Congo basin drain this part of Angola. Their valleys add soft, meandering lines to the otherwise sparse landscape around the town.

For people from Cuilo, or families with roots in the Lunda region who now live far away, an accurate map of home is hard to find. This print takes a place often missing from atlases and puts it on a wall where it can be pointed to and talked about.
Add a personal title, a subtitle and the coordinates line, then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand gives the sparse landscape a warm, earthy tone that suits the plateau. The map comes as a digital file or a printed poster.
