Dhāriwāl Map Poster & Print
Dhāriwāl is a town in Gurdaspur district, in the north of Indian Punjab, on the flat, intensively farmed plain between the Beas and Ravi rivers. It is best known for its woollen mill, founded in the late nineteenth century, whose blankets and cloth made the name Dhāriwāl familiar across India. The mill's large compound is still one of the most prominent features on the map.
The Upper Bari Doab Canal, one of the major irrigation works of colonial Punjab, passes through the town and once supplied the mill with water. On a Dhāriwāl map poster the canal is a clear, confident line. The mill grounds and their housing appear as large, orderly blocks beside the denser, more irregular streets of the older town.
Around the town, the landscape is a patchwork of wheat and rice fields divided by distributaries and field channels, typical of the Majha region. Roads lead toward Gurdaspur, Amritsar and the surrounding villages. In black and white, the map brings together industrial order, the engineered line of the canal and the geometry of irrigated farmland in one distinctive image.

Upper Bari Doab Canal
The major irrigation canal runs through Dhāriwāl in a long, steady line. It is one of the clearest features of the poster and a reminder of how water shaped the region.
Irrigated farmland
Around the town, distributaries and field channels divide the plain into regular plots, adding a fine geometric texture that frames the denser streets of the centre.
