Earl Shilton Map Poster & Print
Earl Shilton is a town in Leicestershire, in the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth, a short distance northeast of Hinckley. It grew from a village with medieval roots into an industrial settlement, where framework knitting, hosiery and footwear manufacturing shaped its streets and brought much of its growth in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
On the map, the older part of town follows a main road with side streets branching off it. Around this core, twentieth-century housing estates bring more regular patterns of crescents and cul-de-sacs. Beyond them lie the fields and hedgerows of the Leicestershire countryside. The Bosworth Field area, where the 1485 battle is remembered, lies a few miles to the northwest.
An Earl Shilton map poster tells the story of an English industrial village: a linear historic core, layers of later housing, and a soft edge where streets turn into farmland. In black and white, the mix of old and new patterns reads clearly. For residents and those who have moved away, it is a familiar and grounding image.

Knitting and hosiery heritage

Estate layouts
Twentieth-century housing brings curved crescents and cul-de-sacs, which contrast with the straighter historic streets on the map.
