Escuinapa de Hidalgo Map Poster & Print
Escuinapa de Hidalgo lies in the far south of Sinaloa, near the border with Nayarit. It sits on the flat land between the Sierra Madre foothills and the Pacific. The town is laid out as a fairly regular grid of blocks around a central square, typical of north-western Mexico. Around it, the map becomes a patchwork of fields and orchards and, further west, a wide system of coastal lagoons.
The municipality is known for growing mangoes, and for the shrimp and fish taken from its estuaries and marshes. The lagoon system reaching down to Teacapán, at the southern tip of the municipality, is one of the most distinctive coastal landscapes in the region. On a map, these waters break the coast into channels and islands instead of a single clean shoreline.
An Escuinapa de Hidalgo map poster can focus on the town's orderly blocks or pull back to show the town against its watery surroundings. Both work. The first is a portrait of a close-knit centre, and the second shows how a farming and fishing town sits between dry land and tide. The result is quiet and graphic, and very different from a big-city map.

Coastal lagoons
West and south of the town, lagoons, estuaries and mangrove channels break the coastline into intricate shapes, especially toward Teacapán.
Orchard country
Mango orchards and farmland surround the built-up area, so the town appears as a compact island of streets within largely open land.
