Fandriana Map Poster & Print
Fandriana lies in the central highlands of Madagascar, in the Amoron'i Mania region east of Ambositra. The land here is high, hilly and heavily worked. On a map the town is a modest cluster of streets on uneven ground, with roads bending to follow the terrain rather than cutting across it.
Around the town the countryside is broken up by valleys, and the valley floors in the highlands are typically used for rice cultivation, which appears as fine, irregular divisions in the lower ground. Hamlets sit on higher, drier land, linked by tracks that climb and curve. The town's street network is small and informal, getting thinner as it moves away from the centre.
A Fandriana map poster reflects this relationship between settlement and land. The drawing is sparse compared with a big city, but it has texture, with curving roads, scattered buildings and the outline of valleys. Printed in black and white, it is a quiet portrait of a highland town where the terrain decides where things go.

Valley fields
Lower ground around the town, where highland rice is typically grown, shows up as finely divided areas between the higher settlements.
Scattered hamlets
Small clusters of buildings sit on rises across the landscape, linked to the town by winding tracks, giving the map a spread-out, rural rhythm.
