Farakka Map Poster & Print
Farakka, in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal, is known far beyond its size because of the Farakka Barrage. It was completed in 1975 across the Ganges, close to the border with Bangladesh. On a map the barrage is unmistakable: a long straight line spanning a very wide river, carrying both road and railway, with the town and its facilities laid out along the banks.
The barrage was built to send part of the Ganges into the Bhagirathi-Hooghly system and keep the channels to the port of Kolkata navigable. The diverted water runs through a feeder canal, a ruler-straight line heading south that makes the local geography look almost like a diagram. A large coal-fired power station nearby adds another group of geometric shapes.
A Farakka map poster suits anyone drawn to rivers and infrastructure. The river is enormous next to the small street network. Add the crossing of rail and road and the clean lines of canals and embankments, and the print has a strong graphic character that holds up in every style, from the plain Classic look to Blueprint.

Feeder canal
A long, straight canal leaves the river near the barrage and carries water south toward the Bhagirathi. It cuts a precise line through the surrounding farmland.
River scale
Here the Ganges is broad, with sandbanks and shifting channels. It dwarfs the town's streets and gives the map a large, open area of water.

අර්ථයක් ඇති සිතියමක්
Farakka means something to engineers, railway travellers and families whose working lives were tied to the barrage or the power station. A map of it records a landscape reshaped on purpose, and it makes a distinctive piece for a study or office.
You can change the title and subtitle, for example to mark a posting or a year, and adjust the coordinates line. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a matte print, framed if you like.
