Filakit Map Poster & Print
Filakit lies in the highlands of the Amhara Region in northern Ethiopia, in the North Wollo area, where the land rises into high plateaus broken by deep gorges. The town sits on elevated ground, and on a map it appears as a compact cluster of streets strung along the main road that crosses this part of the highlands.
The surrounding landscape is striking even in plain line work. Roads wind to follow ridges and avoid steep drops, and the spaces between them are wide and open. Scattered villages and farm tracks spread across the plateau, and the town serves as a local centre for this high, sparsely settled country with its long views and cool climate.
A Filakit map poster shows a highland town defined by its road and its terrain. The line of the highway, the tight grid of the centre and the thin network of tracks across open ground combine into a spare, elegant composition. For anyone with roots in North Wollo, it is a meaningful piece of home rendered in a calm, modern way.

Open plateau
