Historic centre
Around the mosque complex by Mimar Sinan, the old town forms a compact cluster of narrow, winding streets. On the poster it appears as a finely detailed core within a much larger pattern.

Gebze Map Poster & Print
Gebze lies in Kocaeli Province at the eastern edge of the Istanbul metropolitan area, where the main highways and railway toward Anatolia run along the Gulf of İzmit. On a map it is a town of two scales. The older centre is a compact knot of streets on the slopes, while around it sprawl large organised industrial zones, logistics sites and residential estates.
The town has a long past. In antiquity the settlement of Libyssa stood nearby, and tradition holds that the Carthaginian general Hannibal died there. In the sixteenth century the Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan built the Çoban Mustafa Paşa complex in the centre. Today Gebze is best known as a hub of industry and research, home to a technical university and major science parks.
A Gebze map poster shows how an old market town has been surrounded by modern industry. The centre's tight, irregular lanes contrast with the huge rectangular plots of factories, the highway interchanges form bold looping shapes, and the gulf coastline marks the southern edge with a long, gentle curve. It is a strong graphic map for anyone connected to the area.

Industrial zones
Organised industrial districts spread across the surrounding land in large, regular plots. Their rectangular shapes and access roads give the map much of its bold, geometric structure.
Gulf coastline
To the south, the land meets the Gulf of İzmit, with ports and coastal roads along the shore. The water gives the composition a clean edge and a clear sense of place.
