Compact centre
The streets cluster tightly around the town's core, so the centre of the poster reads as a small, dark mass of lines against a mostly white field.

Gedeb Map Poster & Print
From above, Gedeb looks like a compact knot of streets in a very wide landscape. The built area is small, and the roads leaving it thin out quickly into tracks across open ground. The design is mostly empty space, with a few lines that matter because so little else is on the page.
The town lies in Ethiopia's Somali Region, in the east of the country, where settlements are spread far apart and connected by long routes. A few thousand households fit into a small area. Blocks tend to sit close to the main road, and scattered compounds loosen the pattern at the edges before it gives way to plain ground.
A Gedeb map poster suits someone who knows the place from the ground and wants it drawn plainly. There are no grand boulevards or waterfronts to lean on. The appeal is proportion: a dense centre, a few outward roads and a lot of quiet paper. That calm balance is what the monochrome style is best at showing.

Outbound roads
A few routes run out of town into open country and give the composition direction. They are the clearest link between Gedeb and the wider region.
Open surroundings
Past the last houses, the map shows little beyond thin tracks. That emptiness frames the town and gives the print a spare, deliberate look.

People hang a map of Gedeb because it is home, or once was, and a clean drawing of its streets says that more quietly than a photograph can. On a wall, the small settlement surrounded by open space works as both a memory and a restrained piece of graphic design.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a family name or a year. You can then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital HD files cost $9, and printed posters can be ordered with an optional wooden frame.
