Ridge roads
The main roads follow the natural lines of the terrain, bending along ridges and dropping into valleys rather than running straight across the land.

Gelemso Map Poster & Print
Gelemso lies in the West Hararghe zone of Oromia, in the Chercher highlands of eastern Ethiopia. The terrain is steep and folded, and the town adapts to it, with main roads following ridges and valleys and smaller streets climbing the slopes between them. On the map the built area appears as an irregular form shaped by topography rather than a planned grid.
The town serves as a market centre for the surrounding rural districts, where farming on hillsides is common. The Chercher highlands are known for coffee and khat cultivation, and many of the tracks visible around Gelemso lead out to villages scattered across the hills, linking them to the town's market.
What makes the map distinctive is its setting: roads winding through the landscape, small streams cutting into valleys, and settlements spread along the high ground. A Gelemso map poster turns these contours of daily life into a composed image, a portrait of a highland town defined by the hills around it.

Market town
Gelemso acts as a trading centre for the surrounding countryside, and its central streets form the densest, most detailed part of the map.
Highland valleys
Streams cut into the slopes around the town, leaving thin, winding lines that show how the land falls away on every side.
