Railway spine
The rail line through town is one of the strongest lines on the map. It is a reminder that coal from the basin leaves Gillette by the trainload.

Gillette Map Poster & Print
Gillette is the seat of Campbell County in northeastern Wyoming and the centre of the Powder River Basin, the most productive coal region in the United States. The town has long called itself the Energy Capital of the Nation, and the map makes the reason clear. Beyond the last residential streets, the land opens into rangeland and enormous mine pits.
The town grew quickly during energy booms, and its plan shows those phases. An older gridded centre along the railway gives way to looping subdivisions, cul-de-sacs and wide commercial roads. Interstate 90 runs along the northern side, and the rail line that carries coal east is a clear, heavy stroke across the map.
A Gillette map poster suits people who worked the mines, the oil fields or the rail yards, and anyone who remembers the town against the plains around it. Devils Tower is about an hour's drive to the northeast, but the poster stays on the town itself, where the streets meet the open ground.

Boom-era suburbs
Curving streets and cul-de-sacs added during energy booms wrap around the older grid, giving the plan a mix of straight and looping forms.
Edge of the plains
Development stops abruptly at open rangeland. The town appears as a clear shape on a broad, empty field, which suits a minimalist print.

Energy towns draw people from all over, and many of them move on. A map of Gillette records years of shift work, a first house in a new subdivision, or a family that stayed and built a life on the high plains.
Every poster can carry a custom title, subtitle and coordinates line, in one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sizes go up to 24×36″, and you can buy HD files for $9 or a printed poster.
