Gusinoozyorsk Map Poster & Print
Gusinoozyorsk lies in the Republic of Buryatia, in southern Siberia, on the shore of Lake Gusinoye, whose name means Goose Lake. The lake is the dominant shape on the map, a broad sheet of water with the town set along its bank. Around it rise low hills and open steppe, typical of the Transbaikal landscape.
The town grew in the Soviet period around coal mining and energy. Its planned streets form a regular grid with blocks of apartment buildings, and a large power station on the lake shore is one of the most visible features on the map. Not far away is the Tamchinsky datsan, a historic Buddhist monastery, reflecting the region's Buryat heritage.
A Gusinoozyorsk map poster places the neat Soviet-era grid beside the wide, calm shape of the lake. Industrial areas, rail lines and roads add strong straight lines, while the shoreline and hills soften the edges. It is an unusual and striking composition for a town of its size.

Planned grid
Soviet-era planning left a regular pattern of blocks and wide streets, easy to read and very different from the surrounding steppe.
Power station
A large thermal power plant on the lake shore shows up as a distinct industrial complex, part of the town's history and identity.
