Fishpond patchwork
Straight dikes divide the land towards the bay into rectangular ponds. Printed in fine lines, they form an unexpected grid far from any street.

Hagonoy Map Poster & Print
Hagonoy is in Bulacan province, on the low delta land along the northern edge of Manila Bay. The map shows a place shaped as much by water as by roads. Rivers and channels branch through the municipality, and large parts of the land towards the bay are divided into rectangular fishponds rather than streets.
The town's economy has long depended on aquaculture and fishing, and its position on the delta makes it vulnerable to high tides and seasonal flooding. The built-up area follows the higher ground and the main roads. Many barangays line the waterways and are linked by bridges over the channels.
A Hagonoy map poster makes the most of that unusual geometry. A tight town centre lies inland. Beyond it, winding channels cross a patchwork of pond walls that looks almost like a grid, and the open bay lies to the south. Few places look like this from above, and in monochrome the patterns become striking.

Branching channels
Rivers and tidal creeks wind through the municipality. They give the map organic curves that cut across both the town and the ponds.
Manila Bay edge
The shoreline of Manila Bay closes the map to the south. It leaves a broad open area that sets off the dense detail of the delta.
