Huixquilucan Map Poster & Print
Huixquilucan covers the mountainous country just west of Mexico City, in the State of México. From above, there is no grid anywhere. Roads twist along ridgelines and drop into steep ravines, and neighbourhoods sit wherever the slopes level out enough to build. The result is one of the most irregular street patterns in the metropolitan area.
The eastern part of the municipality, around Interlomas and neighbouring districts, has grown into dense residential and commercial areas with towers and gated communities. Further west, the land climbs into the forests of the Sierra de las Cruces, and the old town and small villages keep a more rural character.
A Huixquilucan map poster shows how difficult terrain shapes a city. Streets branch like tree roots along the ridges, and the ravines, called barrancas, leave long green gaps between built-up areas. The overall pattern is organic and full of movement.

Ridge roads
The main roads follow the crests of the hills in sweeping curves, and smaller streets split off from them in loops and dead ends.
Forested west
Towards the Sierra de las Cruces the street network thins out into scattered villages and mountain roads surrounded by open, wooded land.
