Jalesar is a town in Etah district in western Uttar Pradesh, on the flat, fertile land between the Ganges and the Yamuna. On a map it appears as a dense, irregular old core with narrow lanes, surrounded by fields and village roads that fan out across the plain in every direction.
The town has a long-standing reputation for metal craft, particularly the casting of brass bells and small ghungroo bells used in temples and dance.
