The Batang Hari
The river dominates the map. It curves through the city in broad loops that give the poster a strong natural line and separate the dense south bank from the quieter north.

Jambi City Map Poster & Print
Jambi City grew on the Batang Hari, the longest river on Sumatra, and the water still sets the city's shape. On the map the river swings through in wide, slow bends. The main urban core lies on the southern bank, with a looser string of older riverside settlements facing it across the water. Roads fan out from the centre into flat, low-lying land.
The river has carried trade for more than a thousand years. Downstream from the city lies Muaro Jambi, one of the largest ancient Buddhist temple complexes in Southeast Asia, with brick temples scattered through the forest along the same waterway. Today Jambi is a provincial capital and a hub for rubber, palm oil and river traffic.
A Jambi City map poster puts the Batang Hari at the centre of the composition: a thick dark ribbon with the street network gathered along its southern shore. The bridges over it, the smaller creeks feeding in and the tidy blocks of the centre make a quiet, balanced image. It reads as much like a drawing of a river as of a city.

Gentala Arasy bridge
This pedestrian bridge over the Batang Hari links the city centre with the northern bank. It has become one of Jambi's best-known landmarks and shows on the map as a thin line over the water.
Lakes and low ground
Away from the river, streets spread over flat ground in a mix of straight main roads and denser residential lanes. They are broken by lakes such as Danau Sipin and by wetter areas.
