Junín Map Poster & Print
Junín sits on the high plateau of central Peru at roughly four thousand metres, surrounded by wide grasslands rather than steep valleys. The town is laid out on a grid of blocks around a central plaza, the familiar Spanish colonial pattern, and from above it looks compact and orderly against the vast, treeless plain around it.
Nearby lies Lake Junín, also called Chinchaycocha, one of the largest lakes entirely within Peru and home to birds found nowhere else. The plain outside town was the site of the Battle of Junín in 1824, a cavalry engagement in the wars of independence, and the area is now a historic sanctuary.
A Junín map poster places the tidy town grid against a landscape that is mostly open space, with roads striking out across the puna and wetlands spreading toward the lake. It is a print about scale and altitude, where the town is a small, precise mark on a very large plain.

Lake Junín
The large lake lies to the north of town, bordered by reed beds and marshy shoreline. On a wider view it becomes the dominant shape, a pale expanse with soft, irregular edges.
Open puna
Around the town the high grassland stretches in every direction with few roads. That emptiness is part of the map's character, making the settlement look small and deliberate.

For people from Junín, or travellers who crossed the high plateau, the map holds a sense of altitude and open sky. It is also a quiet nod to one of the decisive battles of Peruvian independence.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name, date or short phrase. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand; Blueprint makes the lake and grid especially crisp.
