Kachkanar Map Poster & Print
Kachkanar is a young town by Urals standards, built from the 1950s around a large mining and processing plant. From above, its plan is clearly modern: regular blocks of apartments, wide streets and a compact centre. To one side lies a reservoir, and to the other the vast terraces of open-pit mines cut into the hills.
The town is named after Mount Kachkanar, which rises nearby and is known for its rock formations and a Buddhist monastery near its summit, an unusual sight in the Urals. The mine extracts iron ore containing vanadium, and the town's life has long been tied to it. Forests and hills surround the settlement.
A Kachkanar map poster shows the meeting of a planned town and a heavily worked landscape. In black and white, the regular blocks, the reservoir and the stepped outlines of the pits form a striking composition. It suits people who grew up here as well as those drawn to the Urals' industrial geography.

Open-pit mines
Large stepped excavations lie near the town. Their terraced outlines are among the most unusual shapes on the map.
Reservoir and forest
A reservoir and forested hills border the town. They soften the geometric plan with water and irregular natural edges.

Kachkanar is a town people remember for its mountain, its forests and its strong community. A map with a personal title or date turns it into a reminder of home or of years spent working at the plant.
Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint emphasises the planned blocks especially well. Edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and download the HD files for $9 or order a matte print.
