Villages among paddies
Settlements appear as small, dense clusters of lanes set apart by open rice land, giving the map a dotted, almost cellular rhythm instead of a continuous urban core.

Karangnongko Map Poster & Print
Karangnongko sits in Klaten Regency, on the broad agricultural plain that runs between Yogyakarta and Surakarta. The ground here rises slowly toward the north, where Mount Merapi dominates the horizon, and that gradual slope shapes almost everything a map shows: roads, channels and field boundaries all respond to the way water drains from the volcano toward the lowlands.
From above, the district reads as a scatter of small settlements rather than a single town. Each village forms a compact knot of lanes and rooftops, separated from its neighbours by open paddy land. Narrow roads link these knots in an irregular web, and in black and white the contrast between dense housing and blank fields becomes the main pattern of the drawing.
A Karangnongko map poster is less about one centre and more about a landscape of dispersed rural life. The same plain holds some of Java's best-known temple sites a short distance to the west, and the volcanic soils that feed these fields are the reason the area has been farmed so intensively for centuries.

Water from the north
Irrigation channels and small streams run roughly north to south, following the fall of the land from the slopes of Merapi toward the lower Klaten plain.
A web of rural roads
Rather than a grid, local roads wander between villages and fields, meeting at irregular junctions that make the linework feel organic and hand-drawn.

For people with family roots in Klaten, this is a map of the place between the volcano and the city, a way of keeping a village and its lanes close. It suits a quiet wall where a loose, open composition can breathe.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a date or the name of a village, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to match the room.
