Kinel’-Cherkassy is a large rural settlement in Samara Oblast, in the Volga region of Russia, on the Bolshoy Kinel river. From above, it spreads widely across flat steppe land. Long, straight streets run in parallel, lined with houses and garden plots, while the river winds past in loops, bordered by trees and meadows.
The village is the administrative centre of its district and one of the larger rural settlements in the region. Its layout is typical of the steppe: generous plots, wide streets and plenty of open space. Farmland surrounds the village on all sides and stretches toward the horizon.
A Kinel’-Cherkassy map poster sets the orderly, stretched-out grid of village streets against the free, meandering river. It is a spacious composition that suits a spacious landscape, a clear image of a Volga steppe village drawn in fine lines.
