Citadel mound
The historic citadel rises on a mound above the surrounding city. Its tight, irregular lanes form a small compact shape at the centre of the map, clearly different from everything around it.

Kirkuk Map Poster & Print
Kirkuk grew around a citadel set on a high mound on the east bank of the Khasa, a river that runs full only after the winter rains. On the map the mound is a small, irregular island of lanes at the heart of everything. The mostly dry riverbed curves beside it as a pale band, and newer districts spread outward in every direction across the level plain.
Beyond the old core the street pattern becomes regular, with long avenues, rectangular blocks and wide arterial roads curving around the centre. Much of the twentieth-century growth followed the oil industry. The Baba Gurgur field north of the city is known for its eternal flame, a fire fed by natural gas seeping from the ground that has burned since antiquity.
Kirkuk is home to Kurdish, Turkmen, Arab and Assyrian communities, and its streets carry names and memories in several languages. A Kirkuk map poster sets all of that aside and shows only the physical shape: the mound, the riverbed and the neighbourhoods that grew around them. For many families it is a way to keep the city present, whichever language they use for it.

Khasa riverbed
A seasonal river curves through the city beside the citadel. Crossed by several bridges, it shows as a pale ribbon that divides the city into two banks.
Outer avenues
Wide arterial roads run around and out from the centre. They frame the newer residential districts with long, confident lines that give the print its structure.

ඇයි Kirkuk
අර්ථයක් ඇති සිතියමක්
Kirkuk has a large diaspora, and a map of its streets is a neutral, personal way to remember a home district or a family house. The citadel and riverbed make a recognisable centre, and the plain around them keeps the composition calm and legible.
You can write your own title and subtitle, for example a neighbourhood name or a year, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files or order a printed matte poster with an optional wooden frame.
