Krasnoyarsk Map Poster & Print
Krasnoyarsk stands on both banks of the Yenisei, one of the longest rivers in the world, as it flows north through central Siberia. The river here is broad and fast, and because of the dam upstream it does not freeze near the city in winter. The historic centre lies on the left bank, and the right bank holds large industrial and residential districts.
On a Krasnoyarsk map poster, the Yenisei is the dominant form, a wide pale band crossing the entire frame. Long bridges connect the banks, and islands such as Tatyshev, now a park, sit in the channel. The old centre keeps a grid of straight streets. Above it rises Karaulnaya Hill with its small chapel, an image that appears on the Russian ten-ruble banknote.
South of the river, the ground climbs into hills covered with taiga. The Stolby nature reserve on the city's edge is famous for its tall rock pillars, popular with climbers since the nineteenth century. Founded as a Cossack fort in 1628, Krasnoyarsk later grew with the Trans-Siberian Railway, and its map balances a great river, a regular grid and wild terrain.

River islands and bridges
Islands lie in the channel, some turned into parks, and long bridges span the water. Together they form a rhythmic sequence of shapes across the river.
Hills of the south bank
Beyond the right-bank districts, streets give way to forested slopes. The change from dense city to open hill country is clear along the edge of the map.

For people from Krasnoyarsk, the Yenisei is inseparable from the idea of home, and a map of the city keeps that great river in view wherever they live. It suits both minimalist and more traditional interiors.
Personalise it with your own title, a subtitle and a date, and choose from five styles, including Noir for a dark, wintry look. Order the $9 HD files to print locally, or a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
