La Dorada Map Poster & Print
La Dorada lies on the west bank of the Magdalena River, in the low, hot part of Caldas Department, far below the coffee hills the region is known for. From above, the river dominates. It is a wide, braided band of water with sandbars, and the town's grid runs parallel to it along the flat land of the valley floor.
The Magdalena has been Colombia's great inland waterway for centuries, and La Dorada grew as a point where river traffic met the railway and later the highways. A bridge links it to Puerto Salgar on the Cundinamarca side. On a map the two towns face each other across the water, a pairing that gives the composition a natural centre.
A La Dorada map poster shows a place defined by movement: boats, trains and roads converging on a bend of the country's main river. The town's streets are regular and even, which in black and white produces a calm texture set against the loose, irregular shapes of the river channels and islands.

Bridge to Puerto Salgar
A road crossing joins La Dorada to its neighbour on the opposite bank, turning two riverside towns into a single composition.
Valley-floor grid
On flat land beside the river, the streets form a regular grid of blocks, a quiet pattern that contrasts well with the water.
