La Serena Map Poster & Print
La Serena lies on the Pacific coast of northern Chile, where the Elqui River reaches the sea. The map shows a clear contrast: a compact historic grid inland, laid out in the Spanish colonial tradition, and a long, straight coastline to the west, lined by Avenida del Mar and its beaches. To the south, the city merges with Coquimbo along the curve of the bay.
Founded in 1544, La Serena is one of Chile's oldest cities, known for its many stone churches and a centre rebuilt with a deliberate colonial style in the mid-twentieth century. At the end of the Avenida del Mar stands the Faro Monumental, a lighthouse that has become the city's emblem. Inland, the Elqui Valley is famous for its clear skies and astronomical observatories.
A La Serena map poster balances order and openness. The historic grid provides strong regular blocks, the river valley adds a soft green line to the north, and the Pacific coastline creates a long, clean edge along the whole composition. In black and white, the city becomes a classic coastal map, with land, river and ocean clearly defined.

Avenida del Mar
The coastal avenue runs along the beach in a long straight line, ending near the Faro Monumental, a clear edge between city and ocean.
Elqui River mouth
The Elqui River reaches the Pacific at the city's northern edge, a green corridor that softens the map and leads inland toward the valley.
