La Sierpe Map Poster & Print
La Sierpe is a municipality in Sancti Spíritus Province in central Cuba. It lies on the low, flat plain that stretches toward the southern coast. The town is small and laid out on a simple grid, but its surroundings are what give the map its character.
The area is one of Cuba's main rice-growing regions. Irrigation channels and long field boundaries divide the plain into regular strips and plots. From above, it looks like a carefully ruled pattern with only a few roads crossing it and the town sitting in the middle.
A La Sierpe map poster brings out this geometry. A small grid of streets meets an even larger grid of fields and channels, and the lines continue almost to the edge of the frame. It is a quiet, graphic print that looks especially good in the Paper and Sand styles.

Rice field patterns
Around the town, rice fields are divided into long strips by irrigation channels and embankments. Together they create a fine linear texture.
Southern lowland
The land is almost completely flat all the way toward the coast, so the drawing is shaped by fields and water channels, not by hills.
