Laascaanood Map Poster & Print
Laascaanood is the main town of the Sool region in northern Somalia. It sits on a dry, open plateau, and on a map its streets form a compact network surrounded by sparsely settled land. Roads leave the town in several directions, crossing flat terrain marked by seasonal watercourses that fill only after rain.
The town serves as a commercial and administrative centre for the surrounding area, where pastoralism has long been important. Its political status has been contested for many years, and it has been affected by conflict, including fighting in 2023.
A Laascaanood map poster shows a town defined by its setting: a dense core of streets, a scatter of lower-density housing around it, and long roads reaching across open land. In black and white, the space around the town is as much a part of the composition as the streets themselves.
