Laizhou Map Poster & Print
Laizhou is on the north-western side of the Shandong peninsula, facing Laizhou Bay, an arm of the Bohai Sea. From above, the city centre is a fairly regular grid of wide streets set back a short distance from the shore. Toward the coast the land becomes flat and low, with farmland, salt pans and fish ponds laid out as long rectangles along the bay.
Laizhou is best known in China for gold mining, and the area has long been one of the country's main gold-producing districts. It is also known for its stone, and granite from local quarries has been used widely. Low hills rise to the south and east of the town. In some places, quarries and mine sites break up the farmland and appear on the map as irregular clearings.
A Laizhou map poster shows a city set between hills and a shallow sea. The centre has broad, planned streets, the coastal plain is divided into geometric ponds and fields, and the uplands are marked by winding roads. In monochrome, the rectangles along the bay make an unusually graphic pattern. It is a portrait of a place shaped by the sea, the soil and what lies beneath it.

Planned centre
Wide streets form a largely regular grid in the city core. That gives the urban area a clear, orderly shape set back from the sea.
Hills inland
Low hills rise to the south and east, with winding roads and clearings from quarries and mines.
