Harbour breakwaters
Long, angular breakwaters and rectangular basins frame the commercial port. On the poster they are the sharpest geometry in the composition, a clear engineered edge set against the softer city fabric.

Latakia Map Poster & Print
Latakia sits on a small bulge of the Syrian coast, and from above the first thing you notice is the port. Long breakwaters enclose rectangular basins, and cranes and quays form crisp straight edges against open water. North of the harbour the shoreline runs up toward the Ras Ibn Hani headland, while the city itself fills the flat land between the sea and the first low hills inland.
The site is old. As Laodicea, it was founded in the Hellenistic period by Seleucus I, and traces of that planning survive in the orderly blocks of the older centre, where a Roman tetrapylon still stands. Around this core the twentieth-century city grew in denser layers. Broad avenues cut outward, and newer districts filled the edges toward the university and the southern approaches.
As Syria's principal seaport, Latakia has always faced the water, and a Latakia map poster makes that relationship very plain: a dense field of streets that stops abruptly at a clean coastline. In fine black lines, the grid, the breakwaters and the curving shore road balance each other, and the sea stays a calm open margin along one side of the frame.

Hellenistic street grid
The older centre keeps something of the regular block pattern laid out when the city was Laodicea. This gives the heart of the map a steadier rhythm than the looser outer districts have.
Coastal corniche
A shore road follows the coastline beside the city. It traces a long line where the streets meet the Mediterranean and draws a continuous border between built land and open water.

For people from Latakia, or those who spent summers on its coast, the map is a quiet way to keep a sea town on the wall. The harbour and the grid are recognisable at a glance, even without labels, and the composition suits a hallway or a study.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a family name, a year or a street you remember. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
