Lawa Map Poster & Print
Lawa lies in the north-west of Pakistani Punjab, in the dry upland country west of Talagang, not far from the Salt Range. It is a local centre for the surrounding villages. On a map it appears as a compact settlement with a dense core of lanes and houses, ringed by open land that roads and field tracks cross in long lines.
The land around the town is rain-fed and cut in places by seasonal streams and gullies, which shows even in a simple line drawing. Roads rarely run in straight grids. They follow ridges and valley floors and bend around the terrain. A Lawa map poster captures this: a small, tightly built centre inside a wide, spare landscape of long connecting lines.
Life in this part of Punjab is closely tied to farming and to families who have worked the same land for generations. Many people from the area now live and work elsewhere in Pakistan or overseas. For them the outline of Lawa is a familiar shape, a plain but precise record of the place they come from.

Seasonal streams
Streambeds and gullies cut through the surrounding uplands, and their winding courses add irregular, natural lines to the otherwise sparse edges of the composition.
Roads across the uplands
Roads leave the town toward Talagang and neighbouring villages, following the lie of the land in long curves that give the print a sense of distance and space.
