Lawndale Map Poster & Print
Lawndale is a small, densely built city in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County, between Hawthorne, Redondo Beach and Torrance. It covers only a couple of square miles, and the map reflects that: a regular grid of residential streets packed with single-family homes and low apartment buildings, with commercial boulevards along the edges.
The San Diego Freeway, Interstate 405, cuts through the city on a strong diagonal and divides the neighbourhoods on either side. The Pacific is only a short distance west, but Lawndale itself is an inland grid, part of the continuous urban fabric of southern Los Angeles.
A Lawndale map poster shows the texture of everyday Los Angeles: tight rows of lots, straight streets and the heavy line of the freeway running through. It is a modest subject, but the rhythm of the blocks makes a striking pattern, especially in the Noir style.

Dense residential grid
Small lots and closely spaced streets fill most of the city. The result is a fine, regular texture that reads almost like woven fabric.
Commercial boulevards
Wide main roads run along and through the city, carrying shops and traffic. They frame the residential blocks and link Lawndale to its neighbours.
