Limoeiro do Norte Map Poster & Print
Limoeiro do Norte lies in the lower Jaguaribe valley in eastern Ceará, and the river is the key to its map. The Jaguaribe runs past the town in wide bends. Along its course, a band of green farmland contrasts with the drier land around it. The town's streets form a regular grid on the level ground near the river, with main roads leading to neighbouring towns.
The town is sometimes called the Princesa do Vale, the princess of the valley. It is an agricultural centre, and the nearby Chapada do Apodi, a broad plateau to the east, has become known for irrigated farming, particularly fruit. Large rectangular plots and straight farm roads there contrast with the natural curves of the river valley.
A Limoeiro do Norte map poster brings out the tension between river and plateau: the winding Jaguaribe, the town grid on its bank and the geometry of irrigated fields beyond. In the dry northeast of Brazil, where water shapes almost everything, the map shows clearly how the town has organised itself around it.

Town grid
Limoeiro's streets are laid out in a fairly regular pattern of blocks near the river. They give the centre of the poster a clear, orderly structure.
Plateau farmland
Irrigated fields on the nearby plateau are divided into large rectangles and straight roads. This geometric texture contrasts sharply with the river's curves.
