Mijdrecht Map Poster & Print
Mijdrecht is a town in the province of Utrecht, part of the municipality of De Ronde Venen, between Amsterdam and Utrecht. From above it shows a landscape formed entirely by water management. On one side lies a large polder drained in the nineteenth century, its fields cut into long, parallel strips by ditches and straight roads.
The town sits slightly higher than the reclaimed land, with the old village core along a canal and newer residential districts and business parks spreading out around it. Nearby, the lakes of Vinkeveen show what the land looked like before drainage, with narrow peat strips left between open water.
A Mijdrecht map poster is a study in Dutch lines. The polder's ruler-straight ditches, the dykes and the curving streets of the town make a pattern that is both precise and calm. It is an ideal subject for a minimal black-and-white print.

Canal and village core
The older part of Mijdrecht follows a canal, with streets lined along the water. It forms the historic heart of the town at the edge of the polder.
Dykes and polder roads
Raised dykes and long, straight roads mark the boundaries between polder, town and neighbouring lakes, giving the map its clear framework.
