Red River
The river meanders in tight loops along the city's western edge, forming the border with North Dakota and the most distinctive line on the map.

Moorhead Map Poster & Print
Moorhead lies on the east bank of the Red River of the North, directly opposite Fargo, North Dakota. Together they form one metropolitan area, and a map of Moorhead almost always includes the meandering river, which marks the state line with a series of tight curves across otherwise level land.
The city's streets follow a regular grid, oriented to the compass across the flat valley floor. Minnesota State University Moorhead and Concordia College sit near each other in the south-central part of town, their campuses appearing as open green blocks within the grid. Bridges connect the two cities at several points.
The Red River valley is extremely flat, and flooding is a recurring concern, which has shaped the parks and open land along the river. A Moorhead map poster sets that looping river against the straight grid, a strong and simple contrast.

Valley grid
The flat valley allows a clean, compass-aligned street grid that extends outward in regular blocks and long straight roads.
