Fine lane network
Narrow residential streets fill almost every block. Many run at slight angles to each other, reflecting older field boundaries rather than a single planned grid.

Nihammatsu Map Poster & Print
Nihammatsu is in Kanagawa Prefecture, on the flat, low ground of the Sagami plain west of Yokohama, with Sagami Bay to the south. From above, this part of Japan is densely built but not a single downtown. Small residential lanes fill the spaces between main roads, rail lines cross in straight strokes, and pockets of fields and gardens survive between newer housing.
Street patterns in this part of Kanagawa rarely follow a strict grid. Older roads curve along former field boundaries and waterways. Newer developments add neat rectangular blocks, and larger roads and expressways cut across both. The result is a map full of small variations, where every neighbourhood has a slightly different grain.
A Nihammatsu map poster captures that fine-grained texture. There are no big landmarks to pull the eye, just a dense, even spread of lanes interrupted by the long lines of rail and road. In black and white it becomes an almost abstract pattern, and it rewards a close look more than a quick glance.

Rail and road lines
Railways and main roads cross the plain in long straight or gently curving lines. They divide the dense street fabric into clear sections across the poster.
Surviving fields
Between the housing, small open areas remain where farmland and gardens still hold out. On the map they appear as quiet gaps in an otherwise dense pattern.

For someone who grew up in or lived in a Kanagawa suburb, the everyday streets matter more than famous sights. A map of these lanes keeps a precise record of the neighbourhood itself: the walk to the station, the route to school.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be changed, including to Japanese script if you like. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The $9 digital files include six sizes, from 30×40 cm to 24×36″, with no watermark.
