Noyon Map Poster & Print
Noyon is a small town in the Oise department, about a hundred kilometres north-east of Paris, set in a valley close to the river Oise. Its old centre is compact, with narrow streets converging on the cathedral of Notre-Dame, one of the earliest great Gothic churches in France. From above, the cathedral and its surrounding buildings form a clear, heavy shape at the heart of an otherwise fine-grained street pattern.
The town's history runs deep. Charlemagne was crowned king of the Franks here in 768, and Hugh Capet in 987, events that tie Noyon closely to the origins of the French monarchy. It is also the birthplace of the reformer John Calvin, remembered by a museum in the town. Much of the centre was rebuilt after heavy damage in the First World War, following its historic street lines.
Beyond the old core, the map shows newer districts, rail lines and the waterways of the Oise valley, including canals that carry barge traffic through the area. A Noyon map poster brings together these layers of cathedral town, valley and navigation. It is a natural choice for history lovers, for residents and for anyone who has followed the Oise on foot, by bike or by boat.

Medieval street pattern
Narrow, slightly irregular streets fill the old core, a layout that was largely kept when the town was rebuilt after the First World War.
Oise valley waterways
The river Oise and nearby canals run through the flat valley beside the town, adding long, smooth lines of water to the edge of the composition.
