The central grid
At the heart of town, short blocks form a regular pattern around the main square and church, the typical layout of Spanish colonial towns, and the densest part of the map.

Pénjamo Map Poster & Print
Pénjamo sits in the southwest of Guanajuato, in the agricultural lowlands of the Bajío. From above, the town reads as a dense core of short, regular blocks around its central square. The grid loosens as it moves outward, and the streets give way to irregular lanes, scattered buildings and the straight edges of cultivated fields. At poster scale, that contrast between town and countryside becomes the main subject.
The municipality is best known as the birthplace of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, the priest who began Mexico's war of independence in 1810. He was born at the Hacienda de Corralejo, in the countryside outside the town. The area also falls within the tequila denomination of origin, which makes it one of the few places outside Jalisco where tequila can legally be produced. Agave and grain fields cover much of the land around it.
A Pénjamo map poster reduces all of this to line and space. Main roads lead out of the centre toward neighbouring towns, the built-up area thins at its edges, and the surrounding land shows up as broad, quiet planes. The result is a portrait of a provincial Mexican town of about forty thousand people, drawn without colour so that the pattern of its streets does the work.

Roads into the Bajío
Main routes run out of the centre toward the surrounding region. On the poster they read as long, confident strokes that tie the compact town to the valley around it.
Town meets farmland
The built-up area gives way gradually to open agricultural land. Streets thin out, blocks grow irregular, and the map's edges fill with the calm geometry of fields.
