The central streets follow a largely orderly pattern of blocks, adapted in places to the slope of the ground, which gives the town a clear and readable core.

Pinhalzinho Map Poster & Print
Pinhalzinho lies in the west of Santa Catarina, not far from Chapecó, in a region of hills, small rivers and intensive family farming. The name means small pine grove in Portuguese, a reference to the araucaria forests that once covered much of this upland country. On a map the town is compact, with a mostly regular street plan laid over gently sloping ground.
Like many towns in the west of the state, Pinhalzinho was settled in the twentieth century largely by families of European descent who came from Rio Grande do Sul. The agricultural economy, based on grain, dairy, pigs and poultry, shapes the land around the town into a patchwork of fields, farm buildings and small patches of remaining woodland.
A highway links the town to Chapecó and neighbouring municipalities, and rural roads spread out from the edges in every direction. A Pinhalzinho map poster shows a Brazilian interior town at a human scale, with its central streets, the main square and the farmland beyond all fitting comfortably on one sheet.

Farm patchwork
Fields, pastures and farm clusters cover the surrounding hills, divided by small roads and creeks into an irregular mosaic that frames the town on the poster.
Country roads
Rural roads leave the town in all directions, following ridges and valleys toward neighbouring communities and giving the map a web of fine winding lines.
