Pisa is built on both banks of the Arno, a few kilometres before the river reaches the Tyrrhenian Sea. On a map its long, gentle curve splits the historic centre in two, lined by the continuous riverside streets known as the Lungarni and crossed by a series of bridges. Around the core, long stretches of the medieval walls still trace an irregular ring.
In the northwestern corner of the walls lies the Piazza dei Miracoli, where the cathedral, the baptistery, the Camposanto and the Leaning Tower stand on an open lawn. On the map it appears as a rare expanse of space in an otherwise dense pattern of narrow streets, small squares and courtyards dating back to Pisa's era as a maritime republic.
Pisa is also a university city, home to one of Italy's oldest universities and the Scuola Normale Superiore, and it is the birthplace of Galileo Galilei. A Pisa map poster brings together river, walls and cathedral square in one composition, recognisable to anyone who has studied, lived or simply stopped here on the way through Tuscany.

Piazza dei Miracoli
The cathedral square forms a large open space within the northwest corner of the walls, its buildings standing out as distinct shapes surrounded by lawn.
Medieval walls
Surviving sections of the city walls describe a rough ring around the historic centre, separating the tight medieval streets from the later neighbourhoods outside.

Pisa is often a city of beginnings: a first trip to Italy, years of study, a research post or an arrival at the airport before exploring Tuscany. Its map is compact and instantly legible, which makes it a good fit for smaller walls and framed gifts.
Add a graduation year, the name of a college or the date of a trip to the title and subtitle, and edit the coordinates line to match. The Paper and Sand styles suit the old city well, alongside Classic black and white, Noir and Blueprint.
