Placetas Map Poster & Print
Placetas sits in the middle of Cuba, in Villa Clara Province, surrounded by farmland and low countryside. From above, the town is a regular grid of rectangular blocks, the typical Spanish-American layout with a central square near the heart of town. Streets run in straight lines toward the edges, where the built-up area gives way to fields and scattered rural roads.
The Carretera Central, the highway that runs along much of the island, passes through Placetas. For a long time this made the town a stop between the provincial capital, Santa Clara, and towns further east. Placetas is younger than many Cuban towns, founded in the nineteenth century. Its planned plan reflects that. It grew in an orderly way instead of spreading out bit by bit.
A Placetas map poster shows this order clearly. The even blocks create a calm pattern, and the highway adds a strong line through it. Around the edges, open land frames the town like a margin. The result is restrained and balanced, a poster that rewards a close look at how neatly a small Cuban town can be laid out.

Carretera Central
The island's central highway runs through town. On the map it is a longer, stronger line that ties Placetas to the rest of Cuba.
Rural edges
Beyond the last streets, farmland and country roads take over. The sharp change from grid to open land gives the town a clean outline.
