Scattered chalets
Buildings spread loosely across the slope rather than forming a village core. On the poster they read as a fine scatter of small shapes set into open terrain.

Popova Šapka Map Poster & Print
Popova Šapka lies on the slopes of the Šar Mountains in northwestern North Macedonia, above the town of Tetovo. It is a small resort by Alpine standards, made up of hotels, chalets and holiday houses spread loosely across a high shoulder of the mountain. From above there is no dense centre, only scattered buildings, a few internal roads and ski slopes opening onto the broad terrain above.
The approach is a long road that climbs from the Polog valley in steady bends, linking the resort with Tetovo on the plain. On a Popova Šapka map poster this road is the thread that ties the mountain to the town, while the upper part of the sheet is given over to ridgelines and open slopes that continue toward the higher summits of the range.
The Šar Mountains form part of the border region with Kosovo and are known for wide, rolling high pastures rather than jagged rock walls. That softer relief shows in the map, with long, smooth contours in place of tight cliffs. For many visitors from Skopje and the surrounding region, Popova Šapka is simply the nearest place to find high mountain snow.

Road from Tetovo
The access road rises from the valley floor toward the resort in a series of bends. It is the longest continuous line on the map, linking the plain to the high ground.
Šar high pastures
Above the resort the mountain opens into broad, rounded upland. The wide spacing of the contours conveys the gentle, expansive character of the range.
