Ribeirão Preto Map Poster & Print
Ribeirão Preto lies in the northeast of São Paulo state, on rolling land once covered by coffee plantations. From above, the historic centre is a compact grid on a slight rise, with the creek that gave the city its name running along one side. Wide avenues radiate outward toward newer districts, gated neighbourhoods and the surrounding fields.
The city grew wealthy on coffee in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and the Theatro Pedro II, completed in 1930, still anchors the central square. Today the region is one of Brazil's major agribusiness hubs, especially for sugarcane, and it is sometimes called the capital of agribusiness. The city is also known for its long-established Choperia Pinguim.
On a Ribeirão Preto map poster, the contrast between centre and outskirts is clear. The old grid is tight and even, while the outer districts follow ridges and valleys with looser, curving streets. Ring avenues and highways bind everything together, and the countryside at the edges appears as a quiet field of open space around the dense core.

Ribeirão Preto creek
The stream that gives the city its name runs through the urban area. Roads and green strips mark its course, tracing a soft line through the streets.
Radial avenues
Long avenues extend from the centre toward the outer neighbourhoods. These strong diagonal lines tie the old grid to the newer districts and the surrounding farmland.
