Ridgecrest Map Poster & Print
Ridgecrest lies in the Indian Wells Valley at the northern edge of the Mojave Desert in Kern County. Seen from above, it is a clean grid of streets laid over open desert, with the town ending sharply where development gives way to scrub, dry washes and bare ground.
The town grew alongside Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, which borders it to the north and east and covers a huge area of desert. The Sierra Nevada rises to the west, and in 2019 the region drew national attention when a sequence of strong earthquakes, including a magnitude 7.1 event, struck nearby.
A Ridgecrest map poster shows how clearly a desert town can read on paper: straight roads, broad blocks, arterial boulevards, and then sudden emptiness in every direction. The contrast between the orderly grid and the open valley makes this one of the more graphic compositions among small American cities.

China Lake border
The naval air station adjoins the town, and its large, mostly unbuilt area appears as open space that defines the northern and eastern margins.
Valley setting
The Indian Wells Valley stretches between mountain ranges, with dry washes and the Sierra foothills visible toward the western edge of a wider map.

Ridgecrest is home to many people with connections to China Lake, whether they worked there, served there or grew up nearby. A map of the town is a clear, graphic way to remember a place defined by its desert setting.
Add a posting date or a family name to the title and coordinates line, then choose from five styles. Sand suits the desert particularly well, though Blueprint and Noir also work. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
