Pioneer street grid
The historic core keeps its generous square blocks and broad streets, planned by nineteenth-century settlers. The result is an even rhythm of lines that stands apart from the curving subdivisions around it.

Saint George Map Poster & Print
Saint George sits where the Virgin River and the Santa Clara River meet, in a warm basin at the edge of the Mojave Desert. From above, the old town shows the wide, square blocks that Latter-day Saint settlers laid out in the 1860s. Newer neighbourhoods reach out along the valley floors and stop sharply wherever dark lava ridges or sandstone cliffs rise.
Interstate 15 cuts diagonally across the city, a strong line against the quieter street pattern. To the north, the land climbs toward the lava fields and canyons around Snow Canyon State Park. To the east, the road leads toward Zion National Park, and for many travellers the city is where the trip to Zion begins. On paper, the terrain shows mainly as the places the streets cannot go.
The St. George Utah Temple was finished in 1877 and is often mentioned as the first Latter-day Saint temple completed in Utah. It still anchors the historic centre. Brigham Young kept a winter home here, which was an early sign of the mild climate that later drew so many retirees and golfers. A Saint George map poster shows a desert city still keeping to its original grid.

Two river corridors
The Virgin and Santa Clara rivers wind through the southern and western parts of the city. Their floodplains and green trails open soft gaps between the neighbourhoods.
Ridges and bluffs
Black lava ridges and red sandstone bluffs break the city into separate pieces. Streets stop at their edges, and the landforms show up as bold empty shapes.
