Salinas de Hidalgo Map Poster & Print
Salinas de Hidalgo is on the high plateau of western San Luis Potosí, near the Zacatecas border. It takes its name from the salt flats nearby, where salt has been harvested since the colonial period. The town grew around that trade, and the salt beds are still the most distinctive feature of the landscape around it.
The town itself follows a compact Spanish colonial grid. Its square blocks are arranged around a central plaza and church. Beyond them the country opens quickly into wide, dry plateau. Roads leave the town in long straight lines. The shallow salt basins appear as pale, flat shapes that look quite unlike the ordinary fields around them.
A Salinas de Hidalgo map poster puts the grid and the salt flats in one frame. The regular blocks look dense and orderly, while the land around them looks bare. It suits anyone who likes maps where settlement and geology share the space more or less equally.

Colonial grid
The historic centre follows a regular pattern of square blocks around a plaza. This neat grid is a common feature of towns across the Mexican highlands.
Plateau roads
Highways leave town in long, almost ruler-straight lines across the dry altiplano, drawing the eye toward the edges of the print.

The map is a natural gift for someone from the town or from the salt-producing families of the region. It also appeals to people drawn to plateau landscapes, where a small grid of streets sits in a large, open space.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line in Spanish, English or any other language. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand matches the pale colour of the salt and the dry plateau.
