Foothill edge
Streets stop sharply where the San Bernardino Mountains begin, so the northern part of the poster shows a clear boundary between the street grid and the unbuilt slopes above it.

San Bernardino Map Poster & Print
San Bernardino sits at the northeastern edge of the Inland Empire in Southern California, where the flat valley floor runs straight into the San Bernardino Mountains. On a map the city is a broad, mostly regular grid of streets and freeways, cut diagonally by washes and flood channels coming down from the foothills. Interstate 215 runs north toward Cajon Pass, while Interstate 10 crosses the southern side.
The city holds a well-known place in American road history. Route 66 passed through on its way to the coast, and in 1940 the McDonald brothers opened the restaurant here that became the starting point of the McDonald's chain. Above the city, a natural arrowhead-shaped mark on the mountainside has been a local landmark for generations and gives the nearby hot springs their name.
A San Bernardino map poster captures the contrast that defines the place: dense, orderly blocks below and the sudden emptiness of the mountains above. The Santa Ana River traces its sandy course across the south, adding one long, loose line to an otherwise rectilinear drawing. It is a map of a crossroads city, built where routes out of the desert meet the basin.

Freeway interchange
Interstates 10 and 215 meet near the city, and their long curving ramps stand out against the square blocks as some of the boldest shapes in the composition.
Santa Ana River
The river crosses the south of the city in a wide, mostly dry channel, drawn as a soft band that breaks the regular grid and follows the slope of the valley.

San Bernardino is a map for people who grew up in the Inland Empire, drove Cajon Pass on the way to Las Vegas or studied at Cal State San Bernardino. The grid and the mountain edge make a bold, graphic print that reads well from across a room.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a street name, a year or a short dedication. Choose Classic black & white for contrast, Blueprint for a technical look, or Noir, Paper and Sand for a softer tone on the wall.
