Hill-bound old town
The historic centre curls around rocky rises, and its lanes twist and branch to fit the slopes. The result is a dense, irregular knot at the heart of the map.

Shorāpur Map Poster & Print
Shorāpur, also written Surapur, is in Yadgir district in the north of Karnataka. Unlike many towns on the Deccan plateau, it is not flat. The old town is built among rocky hills, so its streets wind and climb and gather into tight clusters wherever the ground allows. Around it the landscape opens into dry farmland reaching toward the basin of the Krishna River.
The town was the seat of a Nayaka principality that ruled the surrounding area for several centuries. It is also linked to Philip Meadows Taylor, a British officer and novelist who administered the state in the mid-nineteenth century and later wrote about his years there. Traces of that princely past remain in the layout of the older quarters and the hilltop sites above them.
A Shorāpur map poster shows a town whose shape was set by rock, with irregular lanes around the high ground and straighter roads crossing the plain beyond. The contrast between the old hill core and the open country gives the print a clear structure. It suits people from the town and admirers of the Deccan's lesser-known historic places.

Open Deccan plain
Beyond the hills the land flattens into farmland, and straight roads and field edges give the outer poster a calmer, more spacious feel.
Former princely seat
As the capital of a Nayaka principality, the town grew around its rulers' residences on the high ground, which still anchor the older street pattern.
